Blog 1 First Day Reflections

Hi everyone. ✌

In my first day I got to meet two courses, both TB1. First my team teacher and I introduce ourselves. We talked about our expectations, feelings and likes. Then, we played 2 truths 1 lie in small groups. I learned some of the students’ names, hobbies, and dreams. Then we did other activities, such as an emoji game and a bamboozle. Finally, we closed with the rules for the class and some information about platforms and dates. We did the same with the other course.

(This was my chart for the emoji game πŸ˜…)

From this experience I want to highlight that even if both courses were at the same level, the number of students, time and classroom layout changed how I felt. For example, with the first class, I was a little nervous and shy, so I remained more time seated, but the teacher often invited me to participate and talk with the students, while with the second class a was more relaxed and comfortable.

This first experience was really meaningful for me. The KTP program really surpassed all my expectations and I’m really eager to see how the class progresses and see what I can contribute during my practicum. πŸ’•

  1. First classroom experiences are both challenging and exciting. It is understandable you felt better in the second class and with the past of time you will feel more and more comfortable with both lessons. Remember to take notes of interesting things you see, activities that work to control students' behavior or that make students engage more with the class!
